On September 23rd, 2000 liters of toluene diisocyanate (TDI) were accidentally dispersed in the Port of Genoa. TDI is classified as T+, very toxic. NBCR firefighters promptly isolated the area for a radius of 80 meters, and started working on site recovery.
The spilled liquid was collected. The remaining part, stored in eighteen tanks, was transferred in another suitable tank during the night.
Finally an investigation on the causes of the incident was started.
